Don & Grethe Mathieson

Don Mathieson and wife Grethe from Melbourne, Australia was visiting Kykso for a few day's in June 2006. Don and Grehte was the guests of Kykso. On the menu for breakfast was ostrich egg  and ostrich steak for supper!"


 

Pioneer Awards

On the first of June 2006, the Simmentaler Society awarded farmers and researchers the: " Simmentaler pioneer awards - dairy". Dr Johan Kluyts handed over the awards while the Minister of Agriculture of Western Cape was looking on.

New Calves have arrived

The batch of calves born for Kykso and BFG in Canada on the farm of our partners. Most of the calves were Kykso Gezkaha x Salerika Bevan 2. Allso Kykso Lual x Kykso Haped and Kykso Gezkaha x Kwantum Profeet. They are looking great!

"The calves are now mostly 3 to 4 weeks old in the pictures.  All were born unassisted. The calves have excellent pigmentation – specktackles and solid colored hide, one of the Gezhaka*Bevan bulls has a 10 cm wide belt over his front shoulder / one of the Lual*Haped heifers has a couple of spots…the others are as in the pictures."

Kykso expands to the North of South Africa

 
The first Kykso animals left in March 2006 for there new home near Koster in the Western Transvaal (Northwest province). At the time a terrible drought was occuring in Western Cape while the North had more than enough rain. The second truck load of animals left in May. The new partner, Chris Niemand (brother-in-law) will manage Kykso North.

Kykso and Kyksim elite production auction will be held on Wednesday 4 October 2006 on the farm Koesanie, Swellendam.
 
Top proven bulls like Salerika Bevan 2 and Hauk Erz will be under the hammer. Under the 80 animals on sale, will be several show cows and embryo donors.
